What has taken us from a small workshop to a large company of 6000m2 and over 50 employees?
In a nutshell: a commitment to continuous renewal—investing in the latest machinery, incorporating new technologies, attracting talent, and offering better services. This is who we are today, thanks to the daily dedication of our team.
Indeed, considering what Gara is at present, the evolution is remarkable. In fact, it all began in the spring of 1986, when they rented small premises of barely 200m2 on the ground floor of a block of flats in Alegia, employing just four people.
This would soon prove to be too small: in 1989 a new pavilion had to be acquired, also in Alegia, very close to the old mil, tripling our workshop space and growing our team to 15. All this happened in barely three years.
We further expanded into two adjacent pavilions. In one, we began assembling hydraulic equipment under the name Larrondo Berri, and in the other, we installed our first two vertical lathes and a 12-meter milling machine.
The plant was relocated to the modern facilities in Ikaztegieta.
Ten years later, we inaugurated the metrology section, acquiring the adjoining pavilion, which expanded the total surface area of the factory by a further 1500 m2. Also, reverse engineering technology was added to our services.
And who would have imagined that 35 years after opening the first workshop, we would welcome more than fifty people and their families to celebrate this anniversary. We did it in our plant, in a familiar atmosphere. Because at Gara, we are who we are thanks to each of us..
Demonstrating our commitment to sustainability, we have installed 450 solar panels that
generate 225 kW of power. This green energy initiative helps us to reduce our electricity costs
and makes us more competitive.
